interview with animal rights activist and expert Marc Bekoff

Human excesses have led to the planet's worst extinction crisis in tens of millions of years. Our consumption patterns force billions of animals, every year, to face suffering and slaughter on factory farms. More than ever we need to re-connect with our natural landscapes and with animals, and in Rewilding our Hearts, Marc Bekoff lays out out a practical path based on  a lifetime of scientific research and deep personal reflection. He is not appealing to our romanticism, he asks us to make tough choices; and his passionate rewilding challenge extends beyond conservation to include global climate change, strategies for city planning, media portrayals of animals and more. Hosted by Stephanie Potter.

"Bekoff ... reminds us that in a sense we remain great apes and cannot operate outside nature and emphasizes that while humanity may be the dominant species, it is not the most important ecologically. ... Verdict: Bekoff's perspective is far from the North American norm, but his arguments are strong." --Library Journal
