As a new KBOO volunteer, let me introduce myself

Hi folks,

I suppose before I start using this blog to promote my filthy agenda of education and tolerance, it's probably appropriate for me to introduce myself.

My name is Rebecca Nay.  I am a 30 something trans woman who has lived in Portland since 2001.  I transitioned to my true and (mostly) female identity right after I moved here from Salt Lake City.  Yes, I have a Mormon background.  No, I don't believe in that stuff anymore.

After 8 years of mindless production work at Wells Fargo, I desparately needed a change in my life so I quit in February of 2008.   It was not an easy decision quitting my job, as finding a new job in this economy right now is nearly impossible (as many of you know).  Looking and sounding queer makes it 10 times more difficult.

KBOO has been my therapy.  My regular volunteer assignments are for the evening news doing interviews and production work on Tuesdays, and engineering the newscast on Fridays.  I also engineer Out Loud, Prison Pipeline and We The People.

For the past 3 years, I have been podcasting and blogging about my life's interests and experiences.  My show is called Tranny Wreck Radio.  It is a passion of mine, and if you want to hear me uncensored (Damn FCC), that's the place to go.
