Live Broadcast of the Earnest Lovers CD Release Show at the Secret Society Ballroom

Starting at 9pm on kboo.fm, we'll be at  The Secret Society ro bring you the fantastic sounds of Cahalen  Morrison & Country Hammer from Seattle, The Earnest Lovers, and  Doug & Dee from The Midnight Serenaders.

The Earnest Lovers are vintage honky tonk heartbreak seranaders Pete Krebs (Hazel, Stolen Sweets, Portland Playboys) and Leslie Beia (Copper & Coal, The Lowburners).  An alliance forged from their mutual and devoted love of the golden era of country duets, the Lovers have set out to capture that classic sound and to invigorate it with new life in the form of original compositions. With one foot solidly rooted in tradition while allowing the other to two-step forward in exploration, they promise a sound as comforting as old whiskey and as compelling as that fancy new cocktail at the Sapphire Hotel.

They'll be releasng their CD and celebrating with us in the listening audience, those at the Secret Society, and Cahalen  Morrison & Country Hammers, and Doug and Dee.

Cahalen  Morrison & Country Hammers latest album, The Flower of Muscle Shoals,  is caked with the dust of the American Southwest.  Exploring acoustic roots music and touring internationally with his acclaimed Seattle duo Cahalen Morrison & Eli West, he learned from the guidance of friends like Tim O'Brien and Kelly Joe Phelps. With his new project, Cahalen Morrison & Country Hammer, and his new album, he's taken all these influences and distilled them into a new form of American roots music, at once literate and profound, but written in the language of the country greats.

While Doug Sammons and Dee Settlemier have been wild about swing music for the last 10 years, co-leading Portland's own Midnight Serenaders, they have never forgotten their love of singing the classic country music duets. Here, they are thrilled to debut a set of such favorite duets with Doug on guitar, Dee on mandolin, and accompanied by local treasure Paul Brainard on lap steel.
