KBOO Native Programming Award

KBOO strives to be a place for Native individuals and collectives to create programming for and about their communities. As part of this goal, KBOO is offering four (4) awards of $1,000 each to support Native artists, activists, and educators creating culturally-specific projects and programming.

 

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must meet the following eligibility
  • Resident of SW Washington or Oregon
  • Descendant of a tribe native to the Americas or the United States
  • Have an artistic, educational, or activism project or idea that can be shared with the KBOO community
  • Uphold KBOO’s values of peace, justice, democracy, human rights, multiculturalism, environmentalism, freedom of expression, and social change
  • Complete and submit application by March 31, 2026

Selection:

All applications are reviewed by a small panel of Native individuals to assess eligibility and select awardees by May 31st, 2026.

 

Funding for this award:

Funding for this work comes though support from a generous legacy gift to increase Native programming.

 

Some of the projects awards have gone to in the past:

  • Creating a Squirrels Know radio show sharing the Native American and youth perspective on the current planetary crisis/opportunity facing my generation
  • Editing the podcast Pollen Nation, a Indigenous-Centered podcast, down to a 25 minute program for radio broadcast 
  • Traveling with and reporting on the Peltier Justice Ride.
