A tribute to the 1927 Paul Thomas Anderson film “There Will Be Blood”

There will be blood was loosely based on the 1927 novel "Oil" by Upton Sinclair.

Jonny Greenwood scored the soundtrack for There Will Be bloo and has scored every Anderson film since; in 2018 he was nominated for an Academy Award for his score for Anderson's film Phantom Thread. Greenwood's other scores include two collaborations with director Lynne Ramsay. He has collaborated several times with the Israeli composer Shye Ben Tzur, including on the 2015 album Junun. In 2021, Greenwood debuted a new band, the Smile, with Yorke and drummer Tom Skinner.

The first time I had seen There Will Be Blood, I don't think that I was in the right state of mind to watch such a brilliant piece of work and only watched the first quarter of the film and then fell asleep. I didn't see the movie again until almost 7 years later in 2021. I liked the movie so much that I decided to showcase the movie for the "Popup program" The Last Hour as a "movie themed music program" as extra content for KBOO.
After deciding to do so I seen that Jonny Greenwood scored the soundtrack and was absolutely blown away with joy, as Radiohead is one of my absolute favorite bands and has been since 1999.

The Last Hour is different in that it's content is mainly music that is either in the movie or that relates to the movie or the director of actors in the film. Sometimes I choose songs that I think would be a good addition. You will definitely find that a lot in this program.

And so it was, with joy and happiness.
