Re-broadcast of our 2010 interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson about book “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration.”

     This is a re-broadcast of our 2010 interview with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson about her award-wining book “The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration.”   Wilkerson's latest book,  Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, was published in this summer.  It is an Oprah Winfrey Book Club pick and  a New York Times Non-Fiction Best Seller. 

The Warmth of Other Suns won the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Heartland Prize for Nonfiction, the Anisfield-Wolf Award for Nonfiction, the Lynton History Prize from Harvard and Columbia universities, and the Stephen Ambrose Oral History Prize and was shortlisted for both the Pen-Galbraith Literary Award and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.  

Isabel Wilkerson won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing and the National Humanities Medal She is the first black woman to win a Pulitzer in journalism and the first African American to win for individual reporting.
