Please join us on Monday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm for Prison Pipeline on KBOO Community Radio as we talk with Kerri Koala about her campaign to free Ricky Federmann.  At age 21 Ricky Federmann was sentenced to 47 years in prison plus 12 years post parole for a first-time non-violent drug offense.  During his time in prison, Ricky has earned six associate degrees and worked to better himself and support and mentor his peers in prison.   We will speak with advocate Kerri Koala about Ricky's case, his history, and his campaign for clemency.  Kerri Koala is an advocate with a Masters in Criminology and Justice Law.  We will discuss Ricky's case in the larger context of the war on drugs which has seen incarceration rates for Americans increase from 200,000 to 2.2 million with 5 million in post-incarceration supervision or parole, making America home to 25 percent of all prisoners on planet earth.

Prison Pipeline is a radio program dedicated to educating the public about the Oregon criminal justice system. Our goal is to present a unique understanding of the criminal justice system, address the root causes of crime, and challenge the status quo. We seek to promote awareness and activism in order to foster a safe, healthy, and just society. Tune in every Monday at 6:30 P.M. to hear our hosts Karen James, Adam Carpinelli,  Emma Lugo, and Doug McVay explore the Oregon justice system with a variety of guests.
