Germany, Energy Transition and Democracy: Europe, especially Germany, depends on Russia for its natural gas and oil for electric power, heating and cooling, and transport. With Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Germany, Europe’s wealthiest country and political leader, has committed to become self-sufficient. But how?  Will it contract out its energy transition to big banking and business or will it create a democratically run and more reliable public system?  Bill Resnick interviews Willamette University Historian Bill Smaldone who has written the books Confronting Hitler and European Socialism, a Concise History with Documents.
