Patricia Kullberg hosts this episode of the Old Mole which includes the following segments:

Land and Language in Indian Country: Nimiipuu/Nez Perce Mole Julian Ankney, coming to you from Lapwai, Idaho reads a poem by C. Marie Fuhrman on land acknowledgments and speaks with Kellen Trenal, Nimiipuu and Black visual artist, performer, and podcast host, about the 4th of July in Indian Country, language reclamation and revitalization, connections between language and land, and about land acknowledgements, the #Landback Movement, and hope.

No More Gun Violence: Want to reduce gun violence to stop mass shootings? Things can be done. Cesar Chelala offers a list of actions to reduce gun violence, but concludes with the observation: We need to move from a culture of violence to a culture of peace. Stranger things have happened. Chelala is a global health consultant and contributing editor for The Globalist, a journal published in NY and committed to Rethinking Globalization. He’s written learned reports in medical journals and for the UN and hundreds of articles in newspapers and magazines. Bill Resnick examines Chelala's ideas on reducing gun violence in his article entitled "Can the United States Curb the Epidemic of Gun Violence," which was published in Counterpunch on June 24, 2022.

Jan 6 and the Left: In their Left and the Law segment, Jan Haaken and Mike Snedeker discuss the January 6th Committee's investigation of Trump and his cronies and the implications of the Committee hearings for the Left, including in assessing the impact of riveting televised January 6th hearings.

US Marine Corps Takes on Climate Change: A landmark study, sure to be examined by our nation’s leaders, was just published by the Marine Corps Press, that fine organization that has been keeping order around the world, from the Halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli. The study, written by military insider Elizabeth G. Boulton is entitled "Plan E: A Grand Strategy for the 21st Centruy Era of Entangled Security and Hyperthreats." It applies war theory and military strategy to the threat of the climate and ecological crises. She argues that activities of military and intelligent agencies, and indeed the whole economy, are: “Accelerating the likelihood of triggering a worst-case ‘Hothouse Earth’ scenario that would make the planet unlivable for most species.” The report calls for a “transformation” of the economy and foreign policy, and profound action in the next eight years. Bill Resnick reads from and comments on an article written by Robert Hunziker about the report. Entitled "Marine Press Takes on Hothouse Earth," Hunziker's article was published in Counterpunch on July 1, 2022.
