Please join us for Transpositive on KBOO Community Radio on Tuesday, November 29th at 6pm as we talk with long term HIV Survivors Craig Kolins, Brian Taylor, and Marla Allen for World Aids Day.  We will also be joined by AIDS Archivist Judith Rizzio and The December First Writers .  The December First Writers is a Portland, Oregon-based group of poets and writers who, since 2013, have been giving readings about how HIV/AIDS has impacted their lives personally. The four founding members are Marla Allen, David Rutiezer, Pat Vivian, and Sylvia Zingeser. They are dedicated to education, dialogue, and community building, and to raising awareness and support for AIDS organizations and resources in our community.

World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. Since the beginning of the AIDS crisis, 700,000 Americans have lost their lives to the disease and more than 40 million globally.  Thanks to new treatments and drug cocktails life expectancy has greatly increased although there is still not a cure and research continues.  Currently there are about 1.2 million Americans living with the disease.

Transpositive is a biweekly program in Portland exploring themes important to those who identify as Transgender, Gender Non-Binary, and Gender Non-Conforming. Transpositive tries to connect listeners with the ongoing activist, arts, culture, and dialogue happening in Portland and beyond. Make your voice heard! Transpositive PDX is open to new and experienced programmers, guests, and events you want our community to know about. We are an open collective. Anyone who identifies as trans, gender non-binary, gender fluid is welcome to be part of our collective after completing some basic free radio training.
