In Japan, the picture grows ever grimmer. Reports are often conflicting and despite earlier denials, it is increasingly apparent that the disaster at the Fukushima reactors is approaching the scale of Chernobyl. The difference (Well, there are many differences, but the similarities are chilling.) of course is location location location. The landlocked Russian facility trapped the radiation and concentrated it whereas in Japan the wind and the sea dispersed some of the radiation. But there is more than enough to go around 30 tons more than Chernobyl, as a matter of fact. But don’t believe me: Believe the good people at ‘Beyond Nuclear’ such as International Specialist, Linda Gunter, today’s guest on ‘Air Cascadia.’
