Sam and Jasmin talk about the details of the city's new bodyworn camera policy for cops, which could still see some changes following a 60-day pilot program involving Central Precinct and the Focused Intervention Team or FIT (AKA the gun violence team). The city and the Portland Police Association reached an agreement on the policy in April. We discuss how the agreed-upon policy includes some provisions that have been called for by police oversight advocates, as well as some potential loopholes that could undermine accountability.
You can find a timeline for the rollout of the policy and pilot program here.
