On today's episode, we welcome Dian Greenwood, author of the new novel About the Carleton Sisters from She Writes Press. After studying both writing and counseling psychology in San Francisco, Dian now lives and writes here in Portland, and works as a family therapist. Which seems like an ideal job for a fiction writer.

Dian has published essays in the online magazine The Big Smoke, and is a contributor to the anthology 2020: The Year of the Asterisk from University of Hell Press. About the Carleton Sisters is Dian’s debut novel, a book she’s been working on for the past 25 years. It was named a finalist in the Whidbey Writers Workshop MFA Alum Associations’ first novel contest. Dian is now 81, with three more novels in the pipeline.

Author Rene Denfeld writes: “In turns tender and wise, About the Carleton Sisters  is an exploration of sisterly love. Dian Greenwood writes into the heart of sibling bonds, telling a story of three sisters in their mother’s final days. These characters are complex, real, and dealing with transgressions that might break them apart—or bring them together. This is a touching, tender book that will appeal to readers of all ages.”

Dian will be appearing at Portland’s Annie Bloom’s Books tonight, Thursday August 10th, at 7 PM.
