Substandard animal care, poor management, and lack of transparency have been documented issues at our own Multnomah County Animal Shelter for many years. Late last year, the shelter had to temporarily close due to short staffing and overcrowding, promoting a flurry of media attention and the launch of a full review of shelter operations in February by the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners. Over six months later, is anything better? Have there been any of the improvements promised by Multnomah County Board Chair Jessica Vega Pedersen and new Shelter Manager Erin Grayhek? Volunteers and local animal advocates are skeptical. Hear all about it when host Michele Coppola interviews knowledgeable veteran volunteer Helen Chauncey and brings you the shelter response on the next Voices For The Animals!
