On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 11.30 a.m. Joseph Gallivan interviews sneaker designer Dylan Raasch [PRONOUNCED ROSH] about the show Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting-Edge Kicks, which is on now at the Portland Art Museum until August 11.
Raasch is a former Artistic Director at Nike. He talks about the challenges of designing for mass manufacturing, the use of AI tools in design and collaboration, and how he is inspired by meditation and making music. Raasch designed Nike's Roshe Run lifestyle shoe, which sold over 40 million pairs.

Overview
In partnership with the Bata Shoe Museum in Canada and the American Federation of Arts, Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting-Edge Kicks is a groundbreaking new exhibition that features nearly 60 futuristic footwear designs pushing the boundaries of what footwear can be.
Featuring an incredible mix of fashion, design, gaming, new media, architecture, and material arts as well as sustainable and collaborative practices, the exhibition features work by designers as diverse as Rem D. Koolhaas and Zaha Hadid, innovators Mr. Bailey and Salehe Bembury, as well as designs made in collaboration with fashion icons Rick Owens, Stella McCartney, and Yohji Yamamoto, and top gaming and innovation companies such as PlayStation, Gravity Sketch, and more.
