This week on Century of Lies: Incarceration and Crime.

The Sentencing Project has released a new report entitled “Incarceration & Crime: A Weak Relationship,” which illustrates that less imprisonment often happens alongside improvements to community safety. They held a webinar recently to discuss this report, to examine non-prison alternatives to enhance community safety, and to look at the news media’s relationship to public concerns about crime.

We hear from Kristen Budd, a Research Analyst at The Sentencing Project who moderated the panel; Dr. Alex Piquero, Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Criminology, and Arts and Sciences Distinguished Scholar, at the University of Miami; Bryan Widenhouse, a Senior Policy Associate at Families Against Mandatory Minimums; Andrew Muhammad, founder and Executive Director of We Our Us, the movement; and Anna Flagg, a Senior Data Reporter at The Marshall Project.
