This week on Century of Lies: Defending the Good Samaritan.

Good Samaritan Laws shield people from prosecution when they call emergency services in the case of an overdose. Just because they’re shielded from being charged or prosecuted, does that mean they’re also shielded from being arrested? That’s the question the Supreme Court of Canada will decide when it hears the case of The Crown v Wilson. Several organizations have filed to intervene in the case on the side of the defendant. The groups held a briefing January 13 to discuss the case and its implications.

On this edition of Century we hear from DJ Larkin, executive director of the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition; Corey Ranger, president of the Harm Reduction Nurses Association; Louis Letellier de St-Just, president of the Association of Addiction Workers of Quebec; Maxime Bédard, a lawyer with Daniel Brown Law LLP; and Jessica Hannon with the Canadian Drug Policy Coalition.
