History of Trans Misogyny: Rebroadcast from KPFA's Against the Grain

The backlash against trans people, which has swept both the United States and the world in recent years, is not as new as it seems, according to historian  Jules Gill-Peterson. She traces the emergence of trans misogynistic violence over the last two centuries, which she links to the establishment of colonialism, capitalism, and more recently neoliberalism.

This episode rebroadcasts an episode of Against the Grain from last year in which Sasha Lilley interviews Gill-Peterson, discussing her book A Short History of Trans Misogyny.

Against the Grain is a weekly radio show hosted and produced by Sasha Lilley and C.S Soong on KPFA Pacifica Radio in Berkley, California. It’s a program of ideas, in-depth analysis, and commentary on political, economic, social, and cultural issues important to radical thinking and activism.
