War is not green, and sailing for an end to genocide: Frann Michel hosts this episode featuring these segments:

War is Not Green

The U.S. enforces its violent empire by maintaining almost 800 military bases around the world, and each base contributes to the U.S. military project’s status as #1 institutional polluter in the world, as it unleashes over a billion metric tons of CO2 in the atmosphere and destroys the built and natural environment wherever its boots touch the ground. Code Pink is working to expose the how our US tax dollars are going to advance the climate crisis threatening the existence of all life on earth, with the US military using environmentally devastating materials to murder and occupy the homes of millions around the world.  Laurie Mercier talks with Aaron Kirshenbaum, one of the co-organizers of Code Pink's War is Not Green campaign.

From the Freedom Flotilla

Since 2007, Israel has blockaded the movement of goods and people in and out of the Gaza Strip, and since 2008, activists have sought to break the illegal blockade by sailing through the blockade zone to deliver humanitarian aid by sea. Since 2010, repeated attempts by the Gaza Freedom Flotilla have been intercepted, raided, or attacked by Israeli forces.  In the summer of 2025, participants from the Freedom Flotilla Coalition joined the Global Movement to Gaza and the  Sumud Convoy, and launched the largest in the continuing series of flotillas, with 40 vessels and almost 500 participants from more than 44 countries.  Among the participants from Portland was Paul Reid, who talks here with Frann Michel about why he joined the flotilla and what he experienced, including international solidarity, Israeli captivity, and US government complicity.  He recommends concerned listeners visit and follow Americans United for Palestinian Human Rights: https://auphr.org/
