Chris Toensing of Middle East Report on meanings of Arab Spring for the West; second of 2 parts

Bill Resnick concludes his interview with Chris Toensing about the Arab Spring and its implications for the West.

You can find Part One here.

In this audio, they briefly review their earlier conversation, and they discuss the destabilizing effects of competition for oil resources, conflicts about immigration, concerns about Iran, the USA's contradictory responses, the Saudi counterrevolution, and the way that the uprisings have exacerbated social divisions. Although the West might better support the Arab uprisings with less interventionist foreign policies and by developing a mass movement with a vision of an alternative to capitalism, the more likely future includes increasing global inequality and consequent environmental destruction.
