A podcast featuring audio drama, dark comedy, & other unexpected vignettes from Corvallis & beyond.
This is episode 11 of The Spirit of the Forest, an audio drama / dark comedy created by Oregon resident Dan Crall.  The program reflects upon the sadness, absurdity, and normalcy of modern life.

On this edition, we open with a reflection and soliloquy on sunlight, we then hear the thoughts of Soil scientist James Cassidy (Information Society) on water, soil, and our current state of humanity.  The episode proceeds with audio recorded at a convenience store in Joplin, Missouri during a tornado, allowing us to hear the cries of those who believed they were living their last moments.  We continue with an experimental narrative about baseball, we eavesdrop on a Sunday morning church service in Oklahoma where the angered pastor calls out various members of the congregation, an unamused telemarketer gets Goatse'd, we reminisce on some old telephone noises compiled by Evan Doorbell, Mike Beilstein offers his reflection on natural human vocal symphonies and some ukulele playing, then we hear a visit with the OSU College Republicans during their "2nd Amendment Week" gun raffle.  The episode finishes with the Almighty Jed, a public access TV/radio/podcast host who is fed up with not only his callers via chatroulette.com, but the crappy broadcast facilities in which he operates.

Special thanks to the music project Yen Pox, Lovesliescrushing, and JJ Fux for their musical contributions.  A thanks also goes out to Evan Doorbell for his recorded telephone noises.  Some of the voices on this episode include John Crall, James Cassidy, Cheyne Willems, Nicolas Alden, two unknown telemarketers, Jim Standridge, Dan Crall, unknown voices in a convenience store in Joplin, MO, Mike Beilstein, anonymous members of the Oregon State University College Republicans, and a host of unknown voices from chatroulette.com.  The program was mostly recorded in April of 2015.
