MUSIQUE CONCRETE: HERBERT DISTEL, a multi-media Swiss artist best known for making large eggs and his Museum of Drawers, created two concrete masterpieces in the 1980s. Die Reise (The Journey) is created entirely from the sounds of a train noisily clattering through various acoustic landscapes (and processing envelopes) traversing Germany. La Stazione is an "experimental opera in two acts" created from the many sounds resonating within the great Central Station in Milan Italy, heavily processed, whose five parts are based on intensely reverberating PA announcements.
