"What might gender, ethnicity or sexual orientation have to do with historical and current environmental degradation? Is there a connection between disappearing green spaces in the inner-city and domestic violence? How might negative social behaviors and attitudes impact the carbon footprint of individuals and their cities?"

These are some of the questions that Jourdan Keith is asking and trying to answer through her work at Urban Wilderness Project.

Jourdan is the Founder and Director of Urban Wilderness Project, a community-based organization which works in partnership with Urban Wilderness Works, a Seattle based non-profit. She believes that "connecting to the natural world is critical to restoring communities, reducing domestic violence, building relationships, and acknowledging and healing historical injustices."
