The struggle to stop Nestlé's bottled water dreams in the Columbia Gorge.
Nestlé has proposed to build a controversial bottled water facility in Cascade Locks in the heart of the Columbia Gorge. But many residents of Hood River County believe that this project would set a dangerous precedent that would allow Hood River County's water to be packaged into millions of plastic bottles and sent out of the County on the backs of trucks. Nestlé’s plan is now being contested by the Local Water Alliance, a coalition of Hood River County residents who have filed a ballot measure petition that would amend Hood River County’s Charter to prohibit commercial bottled water production in Hood River County.

On this episode of Locus Focus we find out more about the struggle to stop Nestlé's bottled water dreams in the Gorge, with guests Aurora Del Val, cofounded of the Local Water Alliance, and Julia DeGraw, Senior Northwest Organizer for
Food & Water Watch.
