Talking Pride: Portland Trans Unity, Black Pride, & Two Spirit Society

Talking Pride! in the face of hate, violence, and terror, we'll be talking with folks who are celebrating community, resistance, visibility, and love.

We'll hear first from sometimes-Portlander amira caluya, who is program co-director at stonewall youth, in olympia washington, an organization of youth, activists, and allies that empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQQIA) youth to speak for themselves, educate their communities, and support each other. amira is a generation 1.5 pilipino immigrant, non-binary queer femme --- and became fascinated with the history of the stonewall inn after hearing that sylvia rivera threw the first heel on the night of the stonewall riots.

Then we'll talk with folks making Pride celebrations in Portland happen! We'll be joined by:

Candi Brings Plenty of the Portland Two Spirit Society, which will be Grand Marshals of the Portland Pride Parade.

Erica Williams, Greater Portland Trans Unity, which is organizing Saturday's Trans Pride March.

Kiki Nicole, Portland Pflag Black Chapter's Black Pride coordinator, and Bart Fitzgerald, Portland Black Pride volunteer.

Join us on the radio, listeners! 6 pm, Tuesday June 14th.
