Kboo's Linda Olson-Osterlund interviews Steve Wax Federal Public Defender for the District of Oregon and author of the new book, Kafka Comes to America; Fighting For Justice In The War On Terror. This is the inside account of the fight to defend two innocent men wrongly imprisoned in the U.S. global war on Terror. It is also a cautionary tale of what can happen when the Rule of Law is set aside.
Brandon Mayfield, an attorney from Beaverton, Oregon was wrongly accused of particpating in the Madrid train bombings of 2004. As his public defender Steve Wax takes us from his arrest through his eventual vindication. The book also tells the story of Adel Hassan Hamad a Sudanese charity worker wrongly accused of being an Al Quaeda member who spent over five years locked in Guantanamo until Steve and his team were able to win his release.
