Summertime is not traditionally the season for animation festivals, but two grassroots events are setting out to buck the trend.
We're joined by Overlapping Action Mini-Festival curator Ben Chapin, who is bringing his bi-coastal traveling show to the Po'Boy Art Space in Southeast Portland. Originally founded among Boston's animation community in 2015, Overlapping Action now features the work of animators from around the world.
And we also welcome back to the studio Rose Bond, Rose's biennial exhibition Boundary Crossings features animation installions created by students at Portland's Pacific Northwest College of Art. Rose is joined in the studio by the Royal College of Art's Head of Animation Birgitta Hosea. Dr Hosea has been curating this year's theme Performing Identity through Animated Documentary while tutoring PNCA's animation students.
