Domestic violence is a serious issue, affecting more than 10 million people each year.

Self Enhancement, Incorporated is starting off Domestic Violence Awareness month by celebrating survivors in a mile long walk through NE Portland.

On Saturday, Oct 7th, SEI is holding their annual Purple Mile Walk to educate the public about specific issues surrounding survivors of domestic violence, bringing communities to the forefront of dialogue, so they can help alter social consciousness and encourage people to change their actions. Public awareness on domestic violence can educate community members about the prevalence of abuse, encourage people to take action to end abuse, and alert survivors to the options and resources that are available to them.

Ani and Lyn will talk with Sahaan McKelvey, the Co-Director of Community and Family Programs at SEI about their ongoing efforts to educate communities about domestic violence, and their upcoming Purple Mile Walk.
