with Joe, Ching Ching Wong, BRAVO Youth Orchestra

10/27, 7pm

Alberta Abbey (126 NE Alberta St)

Tickets: www.joekye.com $15 door, $10 presale.

Joining Kye for the album release performance will be BRAVO Youth Orchestra, a group comprised of young musicians from underserved Portland Public Schools, playing selections from his new record. Additionally, Kye will premiere his album, Migrants, a collaborative piece for music and dance with internationally-acclaimed dancer Ching Ching Wong, currently of the the NW Dance Project. The two will perform together around the world, with stops in Nepal, Los Angeles, Japan, San Francisco, China, Israel, South Korea, and NYC. Portland Electric Chamber Orchestra, an outfit of ARCO-PDX will be rounding out the bill with their eclectic, modern sound.

A multi-disciplinary exploration of identity, culture, and the spirit of human migration, the intention of Migrants is to include tales of immigration from Kye and Wong’s personal journeys. The performance event will explore many themes relevant to a rapidly globalizing world: the celebration of roots, cross-cultural interactions, and the need to recognize universal humanity across borders and artificial boundaries.
