Dmae welcomes Violinist-looper/composer Joe Kye into her home studio for a personal concert and conversation with this talented musician. Joe Kye releases his new album, Migrants, on Jan. 8, 2018 which kicks off his international tour.

Born in Korea and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Kye moved to Portland from Northern California. He talks about his family origins, his career, opening for Yo-Yo Ma and Bernie Sanders and about getting ready for an international tour.

Joining Kye on his album, Migrants tour is internationally-acclaimed dancer Ching Ching Wong, currently of the the NW Dance Project. The two will perform together around the world, with stops in Nepal, Los Angeles, Japan, San Francisco, China, Israel, South Korea, and NYC. Migrants is a multi-disciplinary exploration of identity, culture, and the spirit of human migration, the intention of Migrants is to include tales of immigration from Kye and Wong’s personal journeys.
Joe Kye’s CDs will also be available for sale at the upcoming performances of The Brothers Paranormal presented by Theatre Diaspora at PSU’s Lincoln Hall at the Boiler Room on Jan. 19th at 7:30pm, Jan. 20th at 2pm & 7:30pm and Jan. 21st at 2pm.
