Host Ken Jones talks with William T. Vollmann, author of Carbon Ideologies, a new two-volume work about the factors and human actions that have led to global warming. The first volume – No Immediate Danger – is now available. And the second volume – No Good Alternative – goes on sale June 5th.

Vollmann is the author of 4 collections of short fiction, a memoir, 7 works of non-fiction (including the 7-volume treatise on violence, Rising Up and Rising Down), and 10 novels (including the five books currently available in his Seven Dreams series of historical fiction). His journalism and stories have appeared in the New Yorker, Harpers, Esquire, Granta, and many other publications.

In the Washington Post review of No Immediate Danger, Meara Sharma writes: “It is overwhelming. It drowns us in calculations, facts, images, stories. It embodies the confusion of our current moment, the insidiousness of disbelief, and the mania-inducing reality that our greatest threat is the hardest to act upon. It is a feverish, sprawling archive of who we are, and what we've wrought.”
