Today’s show will be two parts – in the first half, host Layla Kanaan speaks with Portland activist Heidi Lee, who attended the recent national conference of Students for Justice in Palestine. The conference was held at UCLA in Los Angeles, and was met with protests and hecklers who harassed attendees and tried to shut the conference down.
In the second half of the program, we’ll hear a talk by Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, the head of the Gaza Community Mental Health Program. He spoke recently in Portland Oregon as part of a tour to bring attention to the mental health crisis in Gaza due to the ongoing Israeli siege.
