All of us can agree on the importance of home in our lives, but what do we mean by “home”? And, once we settle on that home, how do we fit in as part of a larger community? If there’s no community, how do we make one?
These are important questions for those who’ve come to the U.S. from other countries, and even those of us who were born here, but may have moved around from place to place. And these are the questions our In Depth guest, Carolina Pfister, asks, and tries to answer, in her audio project I See You.
Carolina is a multi-cultural artist and director of the non-profit organization Culture Seed, who immigrated to the U.S. from her home in Brazil. Carolina describes her work and art as “motivated by the belief that to be home is to seek awareness of the life around us, of who came before, and how personal choices, culture, and socio-political structures knit the web of us.”
We’re fortunate to have Carolina live in our KBOO studios to talk about her work, and the I See You audio project. The third episode in the series premieres on KBOO tonight at 11pm.
