On today’s show, our guest is Edward Lee, author of the book Buttermilk Graffiti: A Chef's Journey to Discover America's New Melting-Pot Cuisine, in conversation with Liz Crain, author of Food Lover’s Guide to Portland.

In Buttermilk Graffiti, Edward reports back from two years traveling the U.S., in search of a multi-cultural cornucopia of great food and great cooks. He’s also the author of the 2013 book Smoke and Pickles: Recipes and Stories from a New Southern Kitchen, and the chef/owner of the restaurants 610 Magnolia, MilkWood, and Whiskey Dry in Louisville, Kentucky; and culinary director of Succotash in Washington D.C. and National Harbor, Maryland. Edward earned an Emmy nomination for his role in the series The Mind of a Chef, and recently wrote and hosted the feature documentary Fermented.

In addition to Food Lover’s Guide to Portland, Liz Crain co-authored the books Toro Bravo: Stories. Recipes. No Bull; Hello! My Name Is Tasty: Global Diner Favorites from Portland's Tasty Restaurants; and, Grow Your Own: Understanding, Cultivating, and Enjoying Cannabis. She’s also the editor of True Portland: The Unofficial Guide for Creative People from Hawthorne Books. And Liz co-organizes the annual Portland Fermentation Festival.

Let’s join Edward and Liz, as they talk about Buttermilk Graffiti, and their mutual love for food and the people who prepare it.
