Operation Cast Lead in Gaza

The first half of today's program features Arab Voices - the guest is Abed A. Ayoub, the National Legal & Policy Director of the American-Arab Anti- Discrimination Committee (ADC), the largest Arab American civil rights organization in the U.S. Through his position, Ayoub works to address issues impacting Arabs and Muslims in the United States, including discrimination, hate crimes, and profiling. Ayoub also works to enhance the communitys economic empowerment and access to education.

Ayoub also represents the Arab and Muslim community on Capitol Hill, working regularly with members of Congress. He regularly appears as a community voice/contributor on national and international news outlets. Ayoub is a native of Dearborn, Michigan, which is home to the largest concentration of Arab Americans. Before joining ADC, Ayoub was in private practice in Michigan, specializing in immigration and criminal law. Outside of ADC, he works with a number of organizations on interfaith projects and has participated in numerous diversity training programs throughout the country.

We will speak with Abed Ayoub about the recent/historic resolution voted on condemning Anti-Muslim bigotry, the attacks against speaking truth regarding the Israel Lobby influence on politicians, accusations of anti-semitism against congresswoman Ilhan Omar, media attacks on Arabs, Tucker Carlsons attack on Iraqi and Arab culture, and more.

On the second half of the program, it's Law and Disorder featuring Helena Cobban talking about 10 Years After Operation Cast Lead.

Helena is the publisher of Just World Books and is active through her new not-for-profit organization Just World Educational. She works in broad community education campaigns on matters of war, peace, and justice in the Middle East.

Last month marked the 10 year anniversary of Israels illegal massive deadly attack on the Palestinian people living in the open air prison of the Gaza Strip along the Mediterranean sea in the south of Israel-Palestine. The attack was carried out with the political and military support of the George W. Bush regimeduring its final few days. Some 1200 Palestinians were killed including 500 children. This has been documented in the United Nations sponsored Goldstone Report.

Israels continuing illegal settlement of Palestinian land and its dispossession of Palestinian people is made possible by American political, military and economic support. But this support is coming under increasing challenge with Israels violation of human rights and of international law being more widely exposed and discussed.
