Bill Resnick talks with Emma Rae Lierley of the Rainforest Action Network about the fires burning in the planet’s last remaining major rainforests in Brazil, Indonesia, and the Congo. Governments and agribusiness corporations like Cargill and financial interests like Blackrock and JPMorganChase are responsible for destroying the lungs of the worlds as well as the local and indigenous communities that depend on these forests for their sustenance and livelihoods. When the forests are gone, the monocrop plantations replacing them become the only options for work. Lierley also calls attention to the September 5th Day of action for the Amazon and the work of the group Amazon Watch.
