Rainforests have long been recognized as hotspots of biodiversity—but they are crucial for our planet in other surprising ways. As these lungs, carbon sinks and climate moderators of our planet continue to be destroyed it is critical to reverse the decades of rainforest depredation if life on this planet, as we know it, is to survive.

On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with Tony Juniper, author of Rainforest: Dispatches from Earth’s Most Vital Frontlines, which draws on the author’s decades of work in rainforest conservation and breaks down the latest science on how rainforests support civilization.

Tony Juniper, Chair of Natural England, the country’s official government conservation agency, speaks and writes widely on conservation and sustainability themes and has worked on efforts to conserve tropical forests for more than thirty years.
