Our In Depth guest today is Don Waters, Portland-based author of the new memoir These Boys and Their Fathers, from University of Iowa Press.

In addition to the new book, Don’s work includes the novel Sunland, and two story collections -- The Saints of Rattlesnake Mountain and Desert Gothic, which won the Iowa Short Fiction Award. He teaches at Lewis & Clark College, and directs their Fir Acres Writing Workshop.

In the words of David Shields, These Boys and Their Fathers is “an extraordinarily powerful, moving, and urgent exploration of the crossroads between masculinity, paternity, fantasy, 'truth,' and howling sadness.”
