Host Amy Johnson speaks with Beaverton Municipal Court Presiding Judge, Juliet Britton; Kevin Boone, Specialty Court Coordinator for the City of Beaverton; and Jay Auslander, Jail Diversion Systems Coordinator for Washington County. The topic: a new specialty court in Beaverton, a Behavioral Health Court. This specialty court will likely begin in July 2020 and will serve folks experiencing mental illness. This voluntary program will divert people with mental illness, who are in court for misdemeanor crimes, from jail and support them in addressing their mental health and in meeting their material needs.
