This writing group is for self-identified women writers of all levels and genres, like fiction, non-fiction, poetry, screenplay and children’s literature. The goal of Women Who Write is to combine critique and creativity--all within a supportive space. Located at 4115 North Mississippi Avenue from 7-9pm. For information, or to register for the on-going meetings, please contact the group’s moderator, Traci, at tracis1@mac.com.

The community of Chaco Rio in the Navajo Nation of New Mexico has been blockading entry to the site of a propsed 1,500-megawatt, coal-fired power plant since December of 2006. Support this effort by attending the Doodá Desert Rock benefit show tonight at the Red and Black Cafe on 400 Southeast 12th Avenue from 7-9pm. Elouise Brown, a Diné traditionalist and president of the Doodá Desert Rock committee, will speak about dangers posed by the coal industry, the exploitation of indigenous land by energy companies, and the ongoing struggle to prevent the Desert Rock plant from ever existing.
