Country Music Star Chely Wright's Curve Magazine Coming Out Interview

Last week country music star Chely Wright shocked the industry by coming out as a lesbian. Wright is best known for her song, “Single White Female” and being on People’s 50 Most Beautiful People list.  Few had guessed that Wright was hiding a secret lesbian relationship or that country music homophobia nearly drove her to suicide.  Now Wright has released a revealing biography, Like Me, and a new album, Lifted Off the Ground.

One of the first media outlets Chely Wright revealed her secret to was the lesbian magazine Curve. On April 15th, Chely Wright spoke with Curve editor-chief Diane Anderson-Minshall. The interview will be Curve’s June cover story, which comes out May 28th.  But tonight, in a special collaboration between Curve and KBOO, we’re very fortunate to bring you an exclusive preview, with excerpts from the Curve interview interspersed with Wright‘s own music (including Single White Female, Shut Up and Drive, Shadows of Doubt, Broken, and Notes to the Coroner).

Carla also reported on a disturbing story about an elderly gay couple Harold & Clay who were separated and discriminated against by Sonoma County California.  In addition, we heard Chris Pureka's Porch Songs from the album Driving North)
