Painter Sienna's Numberism

On Tuesday December 29, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. Joseph Gallivan interviews painter Sienna of Sienna Art Studios about her style called Numberism, where each piece contains numbers, words and formulae based on a scientific concept. Sienna explains how she researches her work, how she is drawn to helping people who have not felt depression until 2020 came along, and where her favorite places are to go forest bathing.

FROM HER WEBSITE https://siennaartstudios.com/

Every mark in my drawings is a number or an equation drawn by hand. These pieces take me roughly 100 hours to draw and upwards of a year to research. They are best viewed with a magnifying glass, curiosity, and a little time. The numbers and equations that you see composing my work tell a story of the subject by way of scientific data and formulas. From measuring the health of a human heart to calculating the probability of life in the universe, my pieces beg the viewer to look closer and ask meaningful questions about the work and the sciences that inspire them. I myself struggle with math and use this work to show others that there is more than one path to a rewarding relationship with science. I include descriptions with all my work detailing the data I have used so that my collectors can share in my love of science and continue their own curious and creative journey.
