The Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde have bought back a 23-acre site at Willamette Falls, formerly the site of the Blue Heron Paper Company

David Lewis, Grand Ronde Confederation tribal member and historian, joins host Paul Roland and 3rd Wednesday co-host Jacqueline Keeler to look at the Grand Ronde's Willamette Falls Project.

Lewis has been involved in the Oregon Historical Society's Oregon Encyclopedia project, for which he has written numerous entries on Willamette Valley and Western Oregon Indigenous Peoples, culture and history, including one on Willamette Falls: https://www.oregonencyclopedia.org/articles/willamette_falls/#.YYqsHDqIbcs

He has his own research website, Quartux: Journal of Critical Indigenous Anthropology.

He also highly recommends the book Chinookan Peoples of the Lower Columbia to get a deeper historical perspective on the indigenous peoples of what is now NW Oregon and SW Washington states.
