Please join us on Monday, March 21st at 6:30 pm for Prison Pipeline on KBOO Community Radio as we talk with Seattle author Betty Jane Frizell about her sister, Vicky Isaac, who is sentenced to 45 years in prison in Missouri about the circumstances surrounding her sister's case. Betty Jane Frizell is a former law enforcement officer turned investigator. In May 2013 her sister was accused of shooting her husband to death. She was arrested and charged with murder. Her sister's son who was also living in the house at the time had called the police several days before the shooting and said that he was going to kill his mother and father and then himself. He was institutionalized for three days but returned home and two days later his father was dead. We will discuss the effects of intergenerational trauma, domestic violence and the need for adequate mental health treatment both within and outside of institutions of incarceration as well as the increasing trends regarding incarceration of rural women.
