Gregory Nokes, former reporter and editor for The Associated Press and The Oregonian, is the author of "Massacred for Gold: The Chinese in Hell's Canyon", which documents the robbery and murder of as many as 34 Chinese gold miners on May 25, 1887. This is more than just the story of a hideous crime, it's also the story of a cover-up which lasted more than a century, and of how the passion and persistence of Gregory Nokes rescued the tale from the almost forgotten shadows of the Oregon history. A memorial to the miners will be dedicated at Chinese Massacre Cove during the Chinese Remebering Conference, June 21-22, 2012 in Lewiston, Idaho. Interviewed and produced by Andrew Yeh.
