Joe Clement talks with Jeff Shantz about anarchist organizing, particularly Especifismo in South America. He explains the origins of anarchist organizing and "platformism", relating those to innovations brought by the especifista, namely social insertion. Jeff Shantz is a professor of criminology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the author of several books on anarchism, working-class organizing and environmentalism. Most recently he contributed an article on especifismo to a collection of essays he edited titled "Beyond Capitalism: building democratic alternatives for today and the future".
This talk looks forward to the "Building A Revolutionary Anarchism" event at the Red and Black Cafe (SE 12th and Oak) Tuesday the 13th of August.
