Many thanks to intrepid volunteers who are making it into KBOO through all manner of weather! If you are unable to make it to a volunteer shift, please call and let us know as soon as you are able, so we can try to cover. For situations involving on-air cancellations during business hours, please call the front desk (503-231-8032) and ask to speak directly with Chris Merrick or myself. If neither are available, please ask for any staff person. For very time sensitive urgent situations like this, it is important not to rely on voicemail or email, but to speak with a staff member directly. If it is after hours, and you are unable to make it in for an on-air shift, please call the air room (503-231-8187), and ask for emergency contact information for Chris Merrick or myself.
KBOO's starting off 2009 with a volunteer appreciation party! We would love for all volunteers to join us in a very special afternoon of celebration, honoring the amazing work you do to make KBOO the great community radio station it is.
The appreciation party will be at Liberty Hall, 311 N. Ivy, on Saturday, January 10th, 1 - 4 PM. Please check kboo.fm/volunteer for up to date details.
Also in January, KBOO will need volunteers to staff the phones for our six-day winter membership drive, Monday, January 26th - Saturday, January 31st. Shifts are available from early morning through the evening. Please contact me with any questions, or to find a time that will work for your schedule. If you have considered volunteering at KBOO, but haven't yet taken the plunge, this is a wonderful way to check out the station, meet other volunteers, talk all things KBOO, and provide the station with much needed help during this important fundraiser.
There are plenty of other things to do to support the drive beside answering the phones; we need help with data entry, filing, and prepping before the drive. Just contact me for more information, or to discuss what you'd like to do.
Our next volunteer orientation will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at noon. The orientation is at KBOO, 20 SE 8th Ave. Seating is limited, so please arrive early.
A reminder that we have up to date information about volunteer opportunities, station needs and available trainings at kboo.fm/volunteer and kboo.fm/trainings
If you want more information on the winter drive, the volunteer appreciation party, the volunteer orientation, or anything else related to volunteering at KBOO, please contact me at volunteer[at]kboo[dot]org, or 503-231-8032 ext. 213.
I hope that you are keeping warm and well, and have a wonderful new year.
