Hosts Zaha Hassan and Ned Rosch speak with Bonnie Reagan about her recent trip to the Middle East.
Bonnie Reagan is a retired Oregon family physician who has been involved in social justice causes all her life. Her grandparents emigrated to the United States in about 1900 after enduring pogroms in Ukraine. As a part of her commitment to volunteerism and social justice work, Bonnie is currently involved in starting an intensive classical music program for underserved children in North Portland called the Oregon Bravo Youth Orchestras. She and her husband Pete who was raised a Quaker, visited the Middle East for the first time in the Spring 2013. On Friday's show, Bonnie will explain what it meant for her as a Jew who was raised with a strong sense of her Jewishness and of the need for the creation of a Jewish state to meet Palestinians living under Israeli military occupation.
