Quiet birthday special
Morton Feldman would be ninety on January 12. In honor of his birthday we present an all-Feldman special of his etherially beautiful and low-volume compositions for viola, piano, voice, chamber ensemble, and orchestra. Feldman was part of the New York School in the 1950s, and was a rambunctious composer, art expert, and collector of antique rugs. His music is often very long, very quiet, and floats through the air in a melancholy and meditative way. Sit back, turn off the lights, and things will change.
