Another edition of KBOO's locally produced environmental series: Our Backyard.This edition: The Clean Water Restoration Act (CWRA)(H.R. 2421/S. 1870) provides a clear statutory definition and a clear Congressional mandate to protect all of our Nation’s waters and wetlands. Oregon Senator Ron Wyden and Oregon Representatives Blumenauer, DeFazio, Hooley and Wu support the legislation. However, an anti-environmental group called the National Center for Public Policy Research has announced a new poll showing a majority of Americans oppose clean water legislation; Oregon Senator Gordon Smith and Oregon 2nd District Congressman Greg Walden seem to agree.
